In the Merit Matters post entitled “The FDNY Exam Controversy Is NOT a Racial Issue, It’s a Standards Issue,” the second paragraph sums up The United Civil Servants’ stance succinctly: “Lowered standards discriminate against the best applicants of ALL races and ethnic backgrounds, in favor of those who would normally NOT be competitive if higher standards were applied.”
