Swings for Swings
The UCSA also continues to support events such as Firefighters Union Golf Outing known as “Swings for Swings” which raises money to refurbish parks throughout the city.
2013 Mayors Youth Basketball Tournament
From Tuesday, March 26 thru Thursday, March 28, 2013, the United Civil Servants Association, Newark Chapter, donated 10 cases of bottled water to the Annual Spring Break Basketball Classic tournament held at the John F. Kennedy Recreational Center on West Kinney St here in Newark.
Ms. Tia Montigue, Director of Neighborhood & Recreational Services, was extremely appreciative of our efforts as an organization in taking the initiative in reaching out to her in support of her endeavor. The U.C.S.A. Vice-President B/C Al Carlucci personally bought and delivered the water to the event.
We pass on Ms. Montigue’s sincere and heartfelt thanks, especially since she claims “no one has ever taken the initiative and volunteered help” like we did.
This is just one in many ways your association’s dues go to work within Newark.
If there are any other events, youth or otherwise, that you as members of the U.C.S.A. know about and would like for us to consider donating to, please let us know. We certainly don’t have the funds and resources to support ALL events, but will we will certainly consider ALL requests.
