The United Civil Servants Association, Inc.  is very proud to announce that it is now accepting applications for the 2013 United Civil Servants Black History Month Scholarship!

The application period has ended.

BASIC STUDENT APPLICATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Senior enrolled in a public high school
  • For use at an accredited college or university
  • Student must successfully complete high school
  • College-bound students must have completed all preliminary applications and have been accepted at a qualified college
  • Have established a minimum of 2.75 GPA or 4.0 (as computed on a 4.0 scale) or better in junior and senior years of high school
  • Must complete an essay of no less than 1,000 words

ESSAY TOPIC

“In honor of African-American History Month, what African-American historical or current figure inspires you as a leader, educator, or otherwise?”

The essay must be the original work of the applicant with all sources cited in a “works cited” section at the end of the essay in MLA or APA format. The essay, once submitted, becomes the property of The United Civil Servants Association, Inc. and may be printed with the writer’s credit. The essay will be judged for subject relevance, factual accuracy, creativity, interest, and completeness of thought and proofs.

  • • Applications must be submitted by March 15, 2013.
  • • Applications must be completed online only. Mailed-in applications will not be considered.
